Weslaco ISD CTE Automotive Technology First school district to launch an AYES Program in Hidalgo County Weslaco ISD is proud to offer high school students a first-rate Automotive Technology Program in partnership with local businesses, industry and the Automotive Youth Educational Systems. On October 16th, 2009, the WISD Automotive Technology Program, through the Automotive Youth Educational Systems, partnered with:
Weslaco ISD's Automotive Program provides Dual Enrollment credit through South Texas College (12 to 16 college credit hours); ATC-Advanced Technical Credit through Tech Prep (provides students with opportunities to graduate as Tech Prep Texas Scholars); fulfills requirements for the Distinguished Achievement Plan (1 measure per semester) and offers high school students ASE/NA3SA Industry Certification. Through the AYES partnership, our program will encourage students to consider high wage careers in retail automotive service, prepare them for entry-level career positions and/or advanced studies (certificate programs or associate's degrees). Through this partnership, high school students will be able to access paid job placement opportunities at the local dealerships listed. |
