The S.T.A.R. binder is a one inch binder that will contain all of the necessary information that will keep us informed and your child prepared daily.
Our class will use S.T.A.R. binders for all of our school/home correspondence. These binders will help to teach your child organizational skills and help us adults stay organized too. You will find your child's STAR binder in their backpack everyday. Please check your child's STAR book each day and return to school the next day.
The S.T.A.R. binder contains the following sections:
- Pencil pouch--Use this zipper case to send in money, book orders, permission slips, etc.
- Important Papers from School---Notes from Mrs. Garza, our school principal, school nurse, or any other school personnel. Please note that some notes will need to be returned the next school day, so it is important to check for items daily.
 
- Calendars---Cafeteria menu, school calendar, and district calendars

- Parent/Teacher Communicaqtion---Notes to me and responses from me. Please do not remove any papers from this section. I want to remember information/responses that we have already shared.
- Daily Homework/Return Homework----These sections will contain the homework to be done during the week. Please help your child remember to put homework back in this folder when finished or when he/she is done working on it.
- Guided reading log---This log will need to be signed by the parent as reading/phonics assignement is assigned.
- Super Duper Work to Keep---In this section you will find finished work. Please remove it and sign the note attached.

- Daily Schedule----This is the schedule that we follow on a daily basis unless special circumstances arise.

- Conference Schedule---This is that schedule that we follow for conference unless special circumstances arise. Please note the days that your child will be going to P.E. class so that he/she wears tennis shoes.
